Winner’s Pose For Proco Global

Research published in ‘Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences’ by Jessica Tracy and David Matsumoto, found that the winner’s pose was observed in winning athletes from all cultural backgrounds, as well as blind Paralympic athletes. It therefore seems to be an innate posture. It celebrates an achievement.

Adopting this posture; hands up, head back, chest out and smiling, connects us to that sense of victory, of confidence and self-worth.

If you get nervous before any public speaking event, or a high-stakes interview, then find a quiet area, stand feet hip-width apart, and hold this pose with intention. Do it 4-6 times and notice what happens to the body and mind. Calming, right?

I love this shot of a recent webinar as part of a Blended Learning Program for Proco Global working with their APAC, USA and Mexico teams – the winner’s pose in action.
