Speech Rehearsal Buddy

Great to be in Taipei for 1-1 coaching with a CEO, who wants to work intensely with me on his delivery.

In effect, I am his rehearsal buddy…

Practicing on your own is great but sometimes you need fresh ears and eyes.

You need a rehearsal buddy.

Having someone offer an honest critique will help you hone those final issues that you might not even be aware of.

TIP 1: Deliver to someone who is not in your direct department/ a colleague/ manager. Preferably go for someone outside your organization.

No matter what level of executive I’m working with, If I don’t understand something, I’ll be candid. My agenda is clear – to make their good speech great.

You need that level of feedback at this late stage.

TIP 2: With your rehearsal buddy, record your delivery. Ask for their feedback. Does it flow? Do the points land? How’s the voice?

TIP 3: Get your buddy to video you. Don’t do it on your own. They can give you immediate feedback given that first impressions count. Posture, gesture, eye contact – does it all look natural?

Add these final 3 tips to your preparation routine and I guarantee you’ll fly come the actual event.
