Feel The Power
It’s the defining posture of a champion, crossing the finishing line, arms raised high, head back and usually a huge smile.
And what happens to the body when we do the Winner’s pose?
Adopting this posture lowers the stress hormone cortisol and increases levels of testosterone, the hormone linked to assertiveness and confidence.
For the clients I work with, sometimes confidence is the biggest issue when I’m coaching them to deliver an important speech.
So, I always follow a 3-part process.
· I start with their voice – to make their speech dynamic and engaging.
· Then, observe their presence on stage – posture, gesture and movement.
· Finally, I take them through a series of confidence building exercises.
This exercise is one of my favourites as the results are immediate. It’s neuroscience and it really works.
And when I’m taking a room full of people through this exercise, as you can see here, the energy is amazing.
Try it out yourself.
