What is executive presence? Is it innate or can we develop it?

These were some of the questions posed in the Financial Women’s Association’s (FWA) flagship Symposium 2023.

During the event ‘FWA Champions’ shared their tips on this topic, skillfully moderated by our very own David Pope. Their advice included:

⭐ Confidence stems from self-awareness. Actively solicit feedback to identify your strengths and areas of growth. Don’t hesitate to seek guidance through mentors, coaches, or training.
⭐ Always come prepared to meetings to fortify your credibility.
⭐ Practice developing your influencing skills in small groups.
⭐ Take risks and embrace failures, develop a growth mindset to challenge yourself.
⭐ Craft personal strategies to enhance your presence. This could mean adjusting your posture, speaking at a measured pace, using fewer yet impactful words, or employing strategic pauses.
⭐ First impressions count. Be mindful or learn to connect and engage your audience.

Executive presence is about poise, execution, impression, and credibility. It is gravitas. It’s the way you communicate, influence, and inspire. Perfection comes with practice. Remember that everyone has a unique style. Dedicate time to uncover yours and embrace it. And don’t forget to celebrate your success!
