Why 1-1 Voice Coaching Works

My mantra for so long has been about helping speakers go from good to GREAT. And I heard this in action just recently.

Our default setting is to not like the sound of our voice on a recording, but this is because we are wired to listen to the things that sound weird to us.

This is known as the negativity bias.

But, how about if instead you were coached to focus on only the good  things; the subtle nuances of speaking that played to your strengths?

Would this create the space to improve your vocal impact and engagement?

Absolutely.

And this is why voice coaching works.

Because through recording, playback and analysis you get to hone in on the elements that make you an authentic speaker, and from that foundation, the improvements become tangible.

Kudos to Frances-Yvonne Igweh at BSA LAW who signed up for a 1-1 coaching session with me in Dubai. With an upcoming legal speaking engagement we were able to get right into focusing on what worked for maximum engagement.

I was able to hear a change from good to GREAT. And so was she.

A coach is a guide. You do the work but I make sure you play to your strengths.

And this is what keeps me doing what I love.
