Posture is Power
There is one hidden benefit to hearing your own voice through a microphone – posture.
When I ask clients to do a sound check to test whether the audio levels are comfortable for their own ears, most often than not their voice is ‘small’. There is a hesitancy to speaking at volume.
When the voice is ‘small’ the body is not open.
What I then notice, as we work together, is that as their voice becomes stronger the connection with their body increases and postural changes occur. Their body opens up, the client sits up straight, and their feet are solid on the floor. It happens 100% of the time and it’s fantastic to see.
Body and voice and are intimately connected. If you want to speak powerfully, stand and sit tall and your voice will do the rest.
