Pitch Coaching
The pitch deck is done, the delivery team selected, roles assigned, now it comes down to the presentation itself. But can the delivery make or break the pitch?
I work with clients who know that it absolutely can, like Paul Rhodes from Green Transition Partners. He spent time with me recording and analysing his voice to polish an already superb pitch. It’s this sort of foresight from a Managing Partner that can make all the difference in nailing a winning script. By hearing his recorded voice, the minor tweaks come fast.
As a general guide, keep these things in mind when ready to rehearse your pitch:
1️⃣ Avoid data overload right at the beginning of the pitch.
2️⃣ What is your overarching statement? Summarise then back up briefly with supporting information – remember, less is more.
3️⃣ Use rhetorical questions to set up your value proposition and establish your credibility and trust.
4️⃣ Vocally stress the important information – %’s, transaction amounts, markets, products. What do you want your audience to remember?
5️⃣ How much detail for the Executive summary? Do you highlight all key players or some? As a guide aim for 1-2 mins maximum.
6️⃣ Transitions from slide to slide – take time practicing these, it will make the flow seamless.
